The Doctrine of Regeneration
Stephen Charnock (1628-1680)
Four discourses examining the new birth from every angle: its absolute necessity for salvation, its nature as a real and total change of the soul, God alone as its efficient cause, and the gospel word as its instrument. Charnock brings the same exhaustive precision he applied to the divine attributes, joining scholastic rigor to warm pastoral application. Preached in London and published posthumously, they remain the most thorough Puritan treatment of regeneration.
