Scripture

Bible reading plans link to Bible Gateway and support multiple versions. Roadmap key passages link specifically to the English Standard Version (ESV), a registered trademark of Crossway. No Scripture text is reproduced on TheosIndex.

Concordance

The concordance is built from three openly licensed sources.

KJV Bible textThe King James Bible (1769) is in the public domain. Verse text is sourced from scrollmapper.

Strong's lexiconStrong's Exhaustive Concordance (James Strong, 1890) is in the public domain. Lexical definitions are sourced from OpenScriptures, used under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Word taggingGreek NT and Hebrew OT word tagging is sourced from STEPBible (STEPBible.org), used under CC BY 4.0.

Bible Dictionary

The Bible Dictionary is built from two public domain reference works.

Easton's Bible DictionaryEaston's Bible Dictionary by M.G. Easton (1897) is in the public domain. No copyright applies. Dictionary text is sourced from the Christian Classics Ethereal Library (CCEL).

Drop caps on the site use the Morris Jenson Initialen typeface, a digitization of the foliate initial letters William Morris designed for the Kelmscott Press in the 1890s. The artwork is in the public domain; the digitization by Typo-Graf is released for unrestricted use. The font is subset to the A to Z initials used on the site.
