Happy soul, that, free from harms,

by Charles Wesley·1814·Meter 7s

Based on Isa 40:11

1

Happy soul, that, free from harms,
Rests within his Shepherd's arms!
Who his quiet shall molest?
Who shall violate his rest?

2

Jesus does his spirit bear,
Far removes each anxious care;
He who found the wandering sheep
Loves and still delights to keep.

3

Oh! that I might so believe;
Steadfastly to Jesus cleave;
Only on his love rely,
Smile at the destroyer nigh;

4

Free from sin and servile fear,
Feel the Saviour always near;
All his care rejoice to prove,
All the blessings of his love!

5

Shepherd, seek thy wandering sheep;
Bring me back, and lead, and keep;
Take on thee my every care;
Bear me, in thy bosom bear.

6

Let me know thy gentle voice,
More and more in thee rejoice;
From thy fulness grace receive;
Ever in thy Spirit live.
